North British Mine, Maldon, Australia

Substantial foundations of this (gold) mine complex, which ceased operations in 1926, remain.

North British Mine, Maldon.

I suspect these steps were built when the area was laid out as a tourist attraction, probably in the 1970s. Needless to see, the whole "tourist precinct" is now a rural ruin in its own sake.

To the left is half a quartz kiln, partly demolished while the mine was still operational to make way for a diesel plant. One of several, I'll be posting far more interesting photos of those ruins later.
